The effect of the pandemic and drop in tourism has meant that work is scarce in Watamu. ,Jobs are hard to find and those who are fortunate to be employed are the lucky ones ,. Charo, a time served joiner, is our Happy House carpenter. Mama Sue got to know him and his work severa years ago and offered him a place on our team. ,He has his own carpentry workshop which is well equipped and where he oversees the making of all our school and other furniture, any timber work needed around the both our home and school and repairs. ,Despite his experience, Charo tells us he is still learning and has discovered new skills whilst working at Happy House which enhance his work and his life.
