Messages to the earth

Our Happy House children took part in a special lesson all about sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (https://sdgs.un.org/goals)  – also known as the Global Goals.

These 17 goals are part of a worldwide plan to create a better, fairer, and more sustainable future for everyone on our planet.

The lesson was delivered recently by Hayley Holuj, our friend from My Little Zen, who led a lively and engaging session where the children learned about all 17 goals.

The main focus of the day was on three very important ones:

Goal 13: Climate Action

Goal 14: Life Below Water

Goal 15: Life on Land

To bring the learning to life, the children split into small groups and went on a nature walk around Happy House.

Along the way, they explored their surroundings, took notes, made drawings, and looked carefully at the plants, insects, and nature around them.

Some picked up pieces of litter and shared creative ideas for how these could be reused instead of ending up in landfill.

After the walk, each team presented their group’s findings with confidence and pride. The activity ended with each group writing a “Message to the Earth”—heartfelt words filled with care, hope, and responsibility.

By learning about the environment and the challenges we face, our children are growing into thoughtful, responsible global citizens.

We’re so proud of their enthusiasm, teamwork, and the powerful conversations that came from the day.

What would your message to the Earth be?
