Growing a love of reading

At the Happy House, we know that reading is one of the most powerful ways to help children learn and grow – especially when it comes to building their English skills.

That’s why we were so excited to receive a wonderful donation of over 100 Oxford reading books, kindly brought to us by Roisin, a primary teacher at Aspen Heights British School in Abu Dhabi.

Originally from the UK, Roisin spent time with our Grade 1 and 2 classes during her visit, reading together with the children and supporting our teachers with training on how to use the new books in class.

The books, part of the Oxford Reading Tree series, are specially designed for young English learners. They include retellings of classic tales, written at different levels so every child can read at their own pace. Each book also comes with guiding questions for teachers to ask, helping children understand the stories better and giving extra support when needed.

We’re really thankful to Roisin and to Aspen Heights for their generosity. These books will help our children become more confident readers – and most importantly, enjoy the journey of learning through stories.

Thank you for supporting our Happy House family and helping our young learners take another step forward.
