As a small boy Evans discovered the joys of playing with a red balloon as, for the first time, he could enjoy a childhood free from worry.Joining the Happy House family he had everything he needed – love, family, plenty of food, fun, safety and schooling were Evans, his elder sister Janet and young brother, Oscar, were three of the first children to come into our family . They arrived before the containers from the UK arrived so we had little furniture and it was all a bit like camping! The three kids, a tight family unit, have happy memories of those days and the toys they played with. The youngsters were in need of a home because, after the death of their father, their mother was struggling and was unable to keep her family together. And what a credit they are to our Happy House family. Evans is about to turn 23, is settled in his own little apartment in the local village, and works as a management trainee at Happy House whilst studying online for his qualifications. Janet, also has her own little apartment, and works as a teaching assistant in Happy House School. Oscar attends a secondary school in Malindi. Three bright young people, they are turning out just as Mama Sue and Papa Dave hoped they would – just as they hope all their children will. They are kind, competent, resilient. Janet and Evans are independent people contributing to their community and their country and we are quite sure Oscar will follow in their footsteps.Evans is a remarkable young man who enjoys a busy life. He is an asset to our team and as he was such a wonderful assistant to Mama, and since her death has been huge support to Papa Dave helping with all his administrative work. In this video, Evans tells us about himself. We wish him a very happy birthday on April 4..
