Tomorrow, St Patrick’s Day, Happy House will celebrate its 14th birthday. ,And the children will have a splashing time as the party will be held on the beach. ,For Papa Dave anniversaries are poignant as they hold so many memories of his beloved late wife, Sue, founder of the charity and the journey that led them to Happy House. ,It was Sue’s vision, her dream, and with Dave, her rock at her side, she gathered the support and money needed to build her Happy House and to create a family home for chilldren in need. ,Since 2010, Happy House has been home to a varying number of children with 106 as the maximum. More than half that number have been repatriated to family members who, having rebuilt their lives after the trauma that led to their child/children needing to be in care, were able to be reunited to live as family. ,We currently have 50 children living as brothers and sisters in our home which is so full of love and joy – just as Mama Sue dreamt of all those years ago when she was working alongside Dave in their small hotel in Blackpool. ,The Happy House is a testimony to her determination and her strength and to the love of the man who was constantly there for her and who now, with our management team and charity trustees, is keeping her dream alive. ,Our thanks and our love goes to each and everyone of you who has supported us along the way, and to those who support us now. Without you none of this would be possible. Your help is truly making a difference to the lives of children.
