It was a miracle, Mama

Today is our 14th birthday. ,It’s a time to celebrate all that has gone before and to look ahead to all that is to come, writes Elizabeth Gomm. ,And to be thankful to our inspirational founder, Sue Hayward, our family’s Mama Sue, for creating such a wonderful family home for children in need. ,Although no longer with us she remains our guiding light. ,Browsing our archive I found these words written by Mama Sue at the end of 2011: ,On a very hectic day at the Happy House, I turned to our head house mum and said:’How did I end up in the middle of Africa looking after 53 children?’ ,She calmly replied: ‘It was a miracle Mama. ,I stood and looked around me at the children, the gardens the Happy House and, yes, I think she was right. ,I have been given the best job in the entire world. ,On this special day, Sue, we. remember you and love you just as we do every day and noone misses yoiu more than your beloved Dave who works so hard to take the Happy House forward as you would wish. ,And for our video we lookback to 10 years ago and a short video. by taleted Italian film maker Massimilio Zeuli, he returned a year later to make a longer film. ,We do not have money to spend o PR so if Max or any other film maker would like to support our work by making a new film for us we woud be hugely grateful!
