Keeping our Happy House kids healthy

Intestinal worms affect hundreds of millions of children worldwide. It is estimated that more than 1.5 billion people around the world suffer from soil-transmitted helminth infestations . These infestations are widely distributed in tropical and subtropical environments, with the highest infection rate per population occurring in sub-Saharan Africa, the Americas, China and East Asia. In Kenya, there is a continuing National School-Based Deworming Programme which is a government programme implemented by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health. Worms can have a detrimental effect on youngsters and their ability to learn. Last week a doctor visited Happy House to dispense worming medication to all our primary children as Lucky tells us.
