Moving onwards

Having not had any education before coming into the care of the Happy House family as a teenager in 2016, John had a struggle to catch up. He had a really difficult childhood and Mama Sue brought him into our family from a rescue centre in Mombasa. Being at Happy House where he was welcomed by the other kids as a new “brother” he found security, love, and the encouragement he needed to help him grasp the opportunities open to him. He finished primary school this year and is now on a college course, funded by one of our generous friends, learning a trade – plumbing. Being over 18 he’s had to leave Happy House but we couldn’t find anywhere for him to live independently as even the smallest bedsit was beyond our finacial reach. Fortunately, one of our very kind staff members had accommodation for a house girl adjacent to her house. She moved her housegirl, who helps with her children and chores, into the house so that John could live in the outhouse. This is a temporary arrangement until we can find another place. Jonny is really happy with his college and home and knows that the Happy House will always watch out for him and welcome him. He’s been visiting his spare time to learn some basic skills on fixing the close-circuit television cameras from our IT teacher, Mr Chris, and our electrician.
